Gilbert, Ariz., February 24, 2011- The Town of Gilbert, in partnership with Gilbert-based REV Biodiesel, has completed its second annual grease collection drive. From mid-November through mid-January, Gilbert and other east valley residents donated 11,032 pounds of used cooking oil to one of Gilbert's nine fire stations. This triples the amount donated last year when members of the community collected 3,750 pounds of grease.

"I am truly grateful for the overwhelming support given by valley residents to help uphold our mission of environmental responsibility," comments Rev biodiesel President Dan Rees. "Members of the surrounding community helped reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 23,000 pounds with their gracious donations, which would be the equivalent of filling the tanks of more than 24 standard-sized school buses with pure biodiesel fuel. It is my personal hope that we can continue the success of Gilbert's Turkey Grease Drive in years to come."

REV Biodiesel collects the grease and converts it into the biodegradable, non-toxic alternative fuel known as biodiesel at its processing plant in Gilbert. The 11,032 pounds of grease donated will generate 1,427 gallons of pure, eco-friendly biodiesel, which is also referred to as B100.

The grease collection drive is another example of Gilbert's commitment to developing the clean and renewable energy sector within the community.
